What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?A Medicare Advantage Plan is a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide you with all of your Part A and Part B benefits.
Medicare Advantage Plans include (HMO) Health Maintenance Organizations, (PPO) Preferred Provider Organizations, (PFFS) Private Fee-for-Service Plans, (SNP) Special Needs Plans, and (MSA) Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans. If you're enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, Medicare services are covered through the plan and are no longer paid for under Original Medicare. Most Medicare Advantage Plans also offer prescription drug coverage. What do Medicare Advantage Plans cover?Medicare Advantage Plans must cover all of the services that Original Medicare covers except hospice care. Original Medicare still covers hospice care even if you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan. In all types of Medicare Advantage Plans, you're always covered for emergency and urgently needed care. Some plans even have a national network so you can get in-network coverage with just your in-network CoPay even when you're out of town.
Medicare Advantage Plans may offer extra coverage, like vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. Most include Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D). There are plans with $0 Premiums and ones with a small monthly premium. All plans offer pretty much the same coverage - even the $0 Premium Plans. What differs is the CoPay, CoInsurance and Deductible. And ALWAYS remember that you must continue to pay your Part B premium. Is it really a $0 Premium? Yes! Are there any hidden costs in these plans? Absolutely NOT! We'll be happy to help sort out the differences between the plans. That's why we're here!
